Fast Network, a top contender in the Hong Kong sprint division, is reportedly planning a potential trip to Japan for the Sprinters Stakes (G1, 1,200m turf) at Nakayama Racecourse on September 27. The news was first published by the Hong Kong-based South China Morning Post’s digital edition on the 11th.
The five-year-old gelding, trained by C. Yip, finished third in last December’s Hong Kong Sprint and fourth in last month’s Chairman’s Sprint Prize. While he has yet to match the world’s top-ranked horse, Ka Ying Rising, Fast Network remains one of Hong Kong’s elite sprinters. Trainer Yip commented, “He’s been in tough races and the season has been long, so I think he needs a break after the Chairman’s Sprint Prize. We’re giving him some rest now, and we’re considering overseas races early next season, such as the Sprinters Stakes in Japan. It’s still under consideration.”
