Playoff Participants from First League Confirmed for RPL Promotion Battle

The two teams from the First League that will compete in the promotion playoffs for a spot in the Russian Premier League (RPL) next season have been determined.

Volgograd’s Rotor and Yekaterinburg’s Ural have secured their places in the two-legged promotion/relegation playoffs. This was confirmed after KAMAZ from Naberezhnye Chelny lost 2-0 away to Ural in the 33rd round, ending their chances of finishing in fourth place.

In the First League, the top two teams earn direct promotion to the RPL, while the third- and fourth-placed sides face off against the 14th- and 13th-placed clubs from the RPL, respectively. With one round left in the season, Moscow’s Rodina and Voronezh’s Fakel have already secured the top two spots with 65 points each. Ural sits third with 61 points, followed by Rotor in fourth with 53 points. KAMAZ is fifth with 49.

The RPL teams that will take part in the playoffs have not yet been finalized.

The first legs of the playoffs are scheduled for May 20, with the return matches set for May 23.
